WYMSICAL GROUPS

All Wymsical  rehearsals take place in the Worcester Arts Workshop..

Wymsical Debut

Saturday 11:00am-12:30pm
£50 per half term
Ages 8-11

Led by Pammy Watkins, Kingsley Roberts, Stephen Watkins and a dance intern under the tutorship of Britt Packer, this group will spend each term preparing material for an end of term musical revue- a "Wymsical" performed at the Worcester Arts Workshop. The material will be chosen to suit the particular qualities of the performers and our three themes for this academic year are Winter, Disney and Fantasy.

The approach is equally divided between formal core training and experiential learning.

Saturday 12:30pm-2:00pm
£50 per half term
Ages 11-14

Led by Kingsley Roberts, Stephen Watkins and Britt Packer, this group will spend each term preparing material for an end of term musical revue- a "Wymsical" performed at the Worcester Arts Workshop. The material will be chosen to suit the particular qualities of the performers and will include numerous opportunities for solo and duet work.

The theme for Summer 2017 is simply pre-1950 and post-1950 with a fantastical twist!

Wymsical Spotlight

The themes for the 2017-2018 will focus on contrasting areas of study within a musical theatre "umbrella"- for example 1930s American musicals; songs from film and tv and modern musicals. The six contrasting elements will provide most participants with the necessary material to undertake a London College of Music Musical Theatre exam at the end of the academic year, should they wish to. If students wish to take this opportunity, it will be possible to do so with only a couple of one-to-one lessons available at a special rate through Malvern Hills Music.

The approach is equally divided between formal core training and experiential learning.

Wymsical Encore

Saturday 2:00pm-4:30pm
£75 per half term
Ages 14-19

This group will enjoy considerably longer rehearsals but be expected to produce an entire Wymsical every half term! With Stephen Watkins in charge of music and Britt Packer in charge of choreography, this group will have a different dynamic every half term as each Wymsical will have a different Guest Director!

Each half term will focus on two celebrated composers leading to a musical revue- a "Wymsical" performed at the Worcester Arts Workshop. The final term of the year will tour the best of the previous five Wymsicals around Worcestershire. The approach is approximately one third formal core training to two thirds experiential learning.

Our topics this season include (amongst others) Screen to Stage Musicals, Gershwin, Maury Yeston and Irving Berlin.

Our Guest Directors this season include Richard Taylor, Tori Wakeman, John Grayson and Lou Fulwell.
